How am I supposed to tell if something is too casual?

You don’t need to spend 15 years studying fashion, as I did, to respond to this query. To quickly determine whether an item of clothing leans “casual” or “formal,” all you need to know are a few basic concepts (e.g., more business).

There are a few general laws that we may all be aware of. Knowing that button-down shirts and dress pants are more formal than a t-shirt and jeans.

But what if we had to choose between two items that are really similar, such as a button-down shirt and a button-up shirt?

Using what I refer to as “The More Means More Casual” Rule, we may determine the formality.

A piece of apparel will cost more the MORE it possesses.

Consider a graphic t-shirt vs a simple white t-shirt.

Or a pair of plain, tidy chinos vs cargo trousers with a tonne of pockets. Although the fabric may be the same, the extra pockets, stitching, and accents give it a more casual look. Probably not something you’d wear to a significant meeting. more detail for chromehearts

This rule will become more clear when I list the various formality levels later on.

For the time being, though, see this rule in a different light: The more formal the design,

the simpler and more minimal it will be.

You can include a more fashionable design in the casual category, such as athleisure sweatpants, Hawaiian print shirts, or “crossbody bags.” Higher on the formal scale items typically have more traditional, timeless styles.

But don’t worry, I’ll explain how formal or casual something is in the following part so you can organise your clothing. You’ll discover that just because something is more informal or formal doesn’t necessarily preclude you from incorporating it into your business casual attire.

Like a good wardrobe, it’s not about a single stand-alone piece, but rather how your pieces combine to form a functional wardrobe.

Using what we’ve learnt, let’s create your ideal entry-level business casual wardrobe

because the majority of people only wash their clothes once every week. In addition to a few additional days just in case, we need enough clothing for every day of the week.

Here are some suggestions for a beginning minimalist wardrobe, assuming you wash your clothes once a week:

20 parts (not counting the socks and underwear)

We want extras of the clothes we shouldn’t wear back-to-back.
You know, clothing like shirts, underwear, and socks that quickly goes funky. 1 for each day, and an additional 2–3 as a backup.

Prepare for our apathy
We would do our laundry regularly, once every seven days. But occasionally I become lazy, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Because of this, we are stocking 10 days’ worth of clothing as a “laziness buffer” rather than 7 days’ worth (6 days plus what you wear on laundry day).

Leaving out accessories
Although completely optional, accessories like ties, bags, pocket squares, and sunglasses are a quick way to add a fun touch to your outfit without taking up a lot of storage space.

I considered a variety of criteria.
A t-shirt is more casual than a button-up, according to established men’s criteria of formality that we are all familiar with. I then made alterations based on my four years of real-world experience styling guys who work in business casual industries (a leather jacket is more casual than a blazer.) I did not receive the best possible ranking.
